Steve Henry, Security Analyst at Accenture
My name is Steve Henry. I recently graduated from Marymount University, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, specializing in cybersecurity. Throughout high school, I was lucky enough to intern at three amazing companies via On-Ramps to Careers. I had the opportunity to work at Accenture Federal Services (2015), Department of Homeland Security (2016), and the United Negro College Fund (2017). At Accenture, I learned about developing software for government clients. At DHS, I was exposed to cybersecurity for the first time. That experience helped me decide what part of information technology I wanted to study in college. Lastly, at UNCF, I used my graphic design skills to manage social media campaigns and promote scholarship opportunities to HBCU students.
In particular, I am very grateful that On-Ramps introduced me to Accenture, as I have recently accepted a full-time offer as a Security Analyst at the company. It makes me happy that I will begin my career at the same company that provided me with my first professional experience back in high school. I have created lasting connections at Accenture and On-Ramps, and I am excited to see what the future has in store for me. I believe that On-Ramps is providing amazing opportunities for young people to grow professionally and as a person.
I am a recent graduate of Florida A&M University. In the summer of 2020 I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Info Systems. Since then, I've gone on to start full time at Texas Instruments as an Analyst on the IT Security Compliance Team. I had the privilege of interning twice with On-Ramps back in 2014 as well as 2015 with Athletech. This internship opened so many doors for me, as far as gaining experience and networking.
The people associated with On-Ramps have helped me so much with resumes, elevator pitches, as well as a lot of hard skills I’ve learned from the internships with Athletech at Microsoft. These internships look stellar on my resume for other employers such as Intel, the IRS, the Carlyle Group, and Texas Instruments and was a determining factor for a lot of the scholarships I received throughout college.
